Teacher who had sex ‘every day’ with student sentenced to 10 years in prison
Another week, another despicable teacher who will be spending some time behind bars for having sex with a student.
The latest disgusting monster is Alexandria Vera, 25, who was accused of having sex with her 13-year-old student almost every day after a series of Instagram messages led to the regular assaults, Brad Hunter reported.
At some point, Vera’s six-year-old daughter was calling the teen “dad” — and, ironically, he also got the teacher pregnant.

SIMMONS: It’s the same old song for the sad sack Maple Leafs in Game 1
Look, there’s a reason the Toronto Maple Leafs are the butt of many jokes come playoff time because as Steve Simmons wrote, “The new playoff season looked like the old playoff season, which kind of looked like the one before that.”
It’s a vicious cycle and this series, against the Boston Bruins, is more of the same.
Game 1 was the same old song, as the Leafs beats themselves up with help from the Bruins, and when the beatings weren’t happening, they were tripping over themselves.
The Bruins, however, were the Bruins, so no surprises there.

Mitch Marner is the third best scoring right winger of all the Leafs, but he hasn’t been earning his overpriced salary as of late.
While Marner yearns to be great, he hasn’t shown up when it mattered, and he all but disappeared in the first two games of this playoff series against Boston.
It’s time for Marner to show how his greatness, be some sort of offensive factor, and not be The Invisible Man.
MANDEL: Umar Zameer not guilty of Toronto cop’s death in City Hall parking lot
Michele Mandel called the acquittal for Umar Zameer on all counts in the death of Toronto Police Det.-Const. Jeff Northrup not only the correct decision but the only decision.
Zameer and his family erupted in an outburst of sobs once the lengthy ordeal was deemed over for the accountant and father of three but, really, there were no winners in this trial.

Raptors unlucky as NBA breaks draft order ties
Unsurprisingly, luck was not on the side of the Toronto Raptors for NBA draft tie-breaking procedures.
On May 12, when the NBA holds its draft lottery to decide the order of the June 27 draft, Toronto has just a 45.8% chance of retaining its first-round selection — despite their dismal season that ended with the league’s sixth-worst record.
The Pacers’ pick could have been as high as No. 16, but a four-way tiebreaker resulted in that pick going to the 76ers. The Lakers and Magic will pick at No. 17 and 18, respectively, putting Toronto at the end of the group.
Toronto has just a 45.8% chance to retain its own first-round pick at next month’s draft lottery if the Raptors can land in the top six, due to a prior trade with San Antonio to acquire Jakob Poeltl.
But hey, the Raptors have Detroit’s second-round pick, where they will select 31st overall.
Overall, though? The Raptors just can’t seem to catch a break.
